少年棒球队国手出身的布店老板阿隆（侯孝贤饰），他和阿贞是青梅竹马。阿贞（蔡琴饰）是某企业的高级助理员工，她总是期想着能够尽快结婚移民美国，改变目前的生活处境，向往着美好未来。阿隆乐于帮助别人，像开出租车的少棒朋友阿钦（吴念真饰）等等。他有着浓郁的怀旧情结，常去棒球场边观看。
