方世玉（张卫健饰）出生在清朝末年的广东，自小就顽皮机敏，而且在母亲苗翠花的调教下，更是练得一身好武功。世玉好胜顽劣，经常在外闯祸，搞得全城满目疮痍，经常得由苗翠花帮助解围。父亲方德虽然知道苗翠花母子两虽然经常闯祸，但其实为人行侠仗义，也就责罚一下了事。　　一日，世玉与新来的洪熙官（樊少皇饰）因误会大打出手。方德觉得自己真的没有能力管教好世玉，于是送儿子前往杭州投考雷老虎办的通天书院读书，因为这个书院与朝廷关系密切，日后容易走上仕途。岂料考试期间，世玉顽性不改，与女扮男装前来考试的严咏春（李婷宜饰）成了斗气冤家，更当众揭穿了她的身份。随后，世玉遭到了咏春的情人、雷老虎的侄儿雷人王的报复，被取消考试资格。世玉为了父亲，再次投考通天书院，岂料方德竟被雷老虎取笑他家境不入流，不让世玉入学。世玉于是怒砸了通天书院的牌匾，震怒了雷老虎。其后世玉入读其爹兴办的琼花书院，与冤家洪熙官成了同窗。　　正当世玉在琼花书院安心读书时，同窗胡惠乾（郑国霖饰）因为父亲病重急需用钱，无奈之下收受了雷人王的好处，将恶作剧嫁祸给世玉。惠乾之后良心发现，供出了雷人王才是幕后黑手。于是，世玉和雷家的恩怨纠葛由此展开了。

It is a drama series that deals with the personal costs and consequences of the struggle for power for the people at the centre of both the political world and the media.　　We meet a very different Birgitte Nyborg (Sidse Babett Knudsen) in the third season than the person we last saw speaking from the lectern in parliament. She is no longer prime minister. It is two and a half years since she called an election in which she failed to win the required number of seats to maintain the existing government. Nyborg had to resign, and chose at the same time to step down as party leader in order to make way for new, up-and-coming figures. She has thus left politics, and is now a highly-paid speaker in the business world. She also sits on several major boards, which requires her to do a lot of travelling.　　Her old party, the Moderates, has changed course somewhat. The current party leader is Birgitte's former crown prince, Jacob Kruse (Jens Jacob Tychsen), who previously betrayed her, after which she promoted him to the post of EU Commissioner to get rid of him.
